What’s in a name?

Today I worked a 12 hour shift, so no pretty pictures as I leave in the dark and return home in the dark.  So I thought I’d ramble on and address the naming of this blog, Dark Star Farm.

So, for those of you who know us, you also know we don’t really live on a farm.  Or do we??

     From the Webster dictionary:

1farm noun, often attributive \ˈfärm\

Definition of FARM

1 obsolete : a sum or due fixed in amount and payable at fixed intervals

2: a letting out of revenues or taxes for a fixed sum to one authorized to collect and retain them

3: a district or division of a country leased out for the collection of government revenues

4: a tract of land devoted to agricultural purposes

5a : a plot of land devoted to the raising of animals and especially domestic livestock

5b: a tract of water reserved for the artificial cultivation of some aquatic life form <a fish farm>

OK, so we kinda squeak into the definition under #4 and #5a, right?  The truth of the matter is we grow so many things; puppies, birds of all sizes, veggies, children.  I mean what else could you call such a conglomeration?  Plus you never know what the future holds, right?  Hopefully, one of these for me….

Mini-Jersey cows

All in good time, I hope….
