Sorry for the silence!

There has been no particular reason that I haven’t posted lately.  A large part would be the need to ‘tune out’ sometimes….not stay up late on the computer and instead have a movie night or early night’s sleep.  And part is the feeling that there is nothing monumental to share…still working on electric, still working on heat, still snowing.  That being said, I’ll share a bit of what’s been going on the past few weeks.

It’s the time of year for pancakes!  The “Pancake House” opened and we had our first meal there!  Yum, maple syrup!

And then we had our first bonfire at the new house….really just a bunch of cardboard boxes, but great fun on a freezing night anyway!

John preferred to watch from afar to begin with.

Then, mama had a weekend away……that’ll be it’s own blog post if I can get my hands on those pictures!

And of course, the wonderful thaw that we had!  It’s mid-February, so no one is fooled into thinking it was spring already but boy was it nice to have a few warm days!

The chickens, free at last, get to sample some kitchen scraps in the compost pile.

A mini pond at the new house!

And as of now, there has been non-stop throwing up for 2 days for both kids.  Here’s hoping that stops soon.  And doesn’t start up for mama or papa!

I did wonder if all was swell 🙂 DH and I got engaged at the Maple Tree Inn, only about 30 years or so ago. I have a magnet on my fridge from Son2 proclaiming some sort of overeating challenge (26 of those all you can eat buckwheat pancakes) when he was in high school. Good times.
The warm spell (ie Friday afternoon) faked my DH out and he drilled taps in our yard trees. No sap yet, no surprise. Syrup is a rewarding job, looking forward to it.
