Summertime = Smoothie time!
Oh how we (minus daddy, I think) love smoothies! You can put together so many wonderful, healthful things! The concoctions are endless! Fresh fruit, over-ripe fruit, been in the freezer since 2003 fruit!! (Yes Summer, the berries you are eating are older than you.) Nuts, veggies, yogurts, you name it!
This mornings smoothie (from top to bottom):
- Stonyfield whole milk yogurt
- Fresh mango (bought precisely for smoothie-makin’)
- Flax seed (Yah, omegas!)
- An inedible banana
- Blueberries that weren’t good enough for fresh eating anymore, but too good to go to the chickens!
Smoothies also make a wonderful, bountiful breakfast food! And I often have waaaaay too much made for us to eat for breakfast. But it solves the problem of afternoon snack: POPSICLES! So much cheaper and healthier than anything you could buy!
I’ll share our favorite smoothie….even Daddy likes it!
