travelin’ chicks

With an almost 20 day absence here, I’m going to step back in like nothing happened. The reason for that absence is us being busy, busy, busy! Which means there is no shortage of blog-able happenings.
We’ve settled in. Boxes are yet unpacked, but this is definitely home. It was time to settle the rest of our crew in! (Yay! No more driving down the hill for daily chores!)
It seems when you need to find a cat, it will not show up for days. Doubly hard to find when you don’t live at the place you are trying to catch them at. And then driving them in the car. Oy, the howling!!
But Caroline made it up.

And then he left, but we nabbed Cash. And then they were both there. I think it helped that they had some new digs and plenty of wet (blech!) food.

Once the cats were settled in and understood that this was home, it was time to round the chickens. Rounding up chickens is always quite the job…I wish there were video.

And so far, everyone is snug as a bug. The quarters are a bit tight, but we’re letting them free range around the yard. Actually I think they’re mostly hiding out in the tree field. They’re mostly bantams anyway, and they do a pretty good job fending for themselves.
And I’ll try not to stay away for 20 more days 🙂
